ABOUT THE ARTIST...
Michael Pulley is an emerging Utah artist who grew up in West Valley City, 15 miles west Salt Lake City. As the son of two school teachers, he learned a love of nature at an early age, since every summer the family would go hiking in the gorgeous Utah back-country. There was continuous joy in finding numerous vistas to capture with his camera. This helped him to develop composition and balance, which later helped him in his art and his life. Even though he went regularly on photo excursions, painting was not a big influence on him until recent years.
And the momentum that has begun has really been going strong!
"I was attracted to oil as a medium because of the blending qualities and the long open time. I've tried a few other mediums, but my oil pieces seemed to speak louder to me and I had so much fun creating them! I also love to experiment with other mediums because they give me a richer way of expressing myself, Its fun to play in the goop like a kid and experiment to see what happens!"
Soon after his first paintings emerged, the floodgates opened as he began to develop his style. One of the things that make these pieces special, is the fact that they all come from his mind, instead of photos or drawings. Most of the pieces were done in one sitting, generally none of them are sketched out in advance. Any photos used are for color and value reference. It gives them a very organic feel. He also intentionally saturates the color, and uses it to increase the vibrancy.
Another phase of his creative flow is Abstraction. There are many ‘accidents’ that have yielded extremely interesting results, creating several abstraction types. He also branched out into other mediums to learn the different characteristics and required techniques, and is now involved in multiple mediums for his creations. He loves the challenges and constant learning that Art provides, every piece becomes a teacher.
Michael Pulley Studios cover the full creative arc for Mike. He creates original landscapes, seascapes, space art, abstracts, and photographs, as well as original music from his music studio. He is also a member of the Intermountain Society of Artists, and he has been the webmaster for that organization for several years.

"I love the way changing light in the sky influences how we perceive the world around us. Light and clouds can always create drama that is fun to re-create and capture, and there are fleeting moments that the Sun can give us as gifts every morning and evening if we are lucky enough to look up! Always take the time to look up to the sky! It is our window to the Universe, and nature is the one thing we have in common as human beings!
Now that these pieces are available for the enjoyment of the public, I hope to share a few representations of some of those Gifts that I have been privileged to see. Most of these pieces are also available for sale to you, please inquire if you are interested. Please enjoy this experience with your family and friends. I hope you come from this website with a smile, I am grateful to share my Creativity with you!”
Thank You and Enjoy Michael Pulley Studios!
